Canada Dental Benefit
A healthy smile is invaluable at any stage of life! However, many children in Canada are restricted from maintaining proper oral health due to the high cost of dental care. That’s why the introduction of the new dental benefit program by the Government of Canada has sparked joy among us! This initiative makes quality dental treatment more affordable and accessible to eligible families.
Dentists At Metrotown firmly believe that all children should have access to excellent dental healthcare, hence this development is a cause for celebration for us! It presents an incredible opportunity to make quality dental treatments more available and affordable – a task our private practice could not accomplish alone.
What is the Canada Dental Benefit?
The Government of Canada has taken an essential stride through its temporary solution, the Canada Dental Benefit. This allows families to begin addressing significant oral health issues while the government continues to work on sustainable dental care solutions for Canadian children and adults.
Are you eligible for the Canada Dental Benefit?
Families with an annual income of less than $90,000 may be qualified to receive dental care assistance via the Canada Dental Benefit. Any parent or guardian can apply for this benefit for every child under 12 not covered by a private dental insurance plan.
To be considered for the benefit, you must submit your previous year’s tax and benefit return on the CRA website. Information about the intended oral healthcare visit and the oral healthcare provider’s details will also need to be provided.
What coverage can you expect?
  • If your children meet the requirements, they can receive up to $650 in tax-free dental benefits over two years, based on your adjusted net income.
  • If your family’s adjusted net income is less than $70,000, $650 will be given to each eligible child.
  • If your family’s adjusted net income falls between $70,000-$79,999, $390 will be granted for each eligible child.
  • If your family’s adjusted net income is between $80,000-$89,999, $260 will be provided for each eligible child.
What dental care services are included?
With the Canada Dental Benefit, your child can avail of all types of dental services provided by licensed dental professionals in their community. Everything from routine checkups to more specialized services is covered, providing comprehensive protection for their oral health.
